Time for another fun edition of This or That!

This weeks questions are about holidays:

1. Halloween or Thanksgiving?

HALLOWEEN! Halloween is without question my favorite holiday ever. Although I do thoroughly enjoy eating Thanksgiving food.

2. Christmas or Your Birthday?

Now that I'm old and birthdays aren't as fun I'm going to say Christmas. Watching R get excited about Christmas is better than all the birthdays in the world.

3. Visiting Relatives or Your Relatives Visiting?

Luckily most of my family lives close by in Colorado, so I'll say visiting relatives because our house is too small (and 99% of the time too messy) to have guests.

4. Valentines Day or St. Patrick's Day?

I really enjoy Valentine's Day because duh, candy but St. Patrick's Day is my best friend's birthday and despite the craziness I usually go out for her birthday party (R in tow because I'm a terrible parent- I don't drink though.) My friend turned 21 while doing a semester abroad in Wales so I flew out there for her birthday and we flew to Ireland. It was pretty awesome to be in Dublin for St. Patrick's Day! There was lots of barf on the street though, so you know.

5. Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Now that most websites have Black Friday sales I'll pick that. There's no way in hell I'd ever go out to a brick and mortar store on Black Friday, but this last year I bought a Dyson online.

This weeks questions are about Christmas:

1. Celebrity Christmas Carol's or Chipmunk Christmas Carols?
Oh god celebrity carols PLEASE. There are few things I despise more than the chipmunks singing anything. R is not allowed to watch that show or any of those movies ever. EVER!

2. Gift Cards or Gift Baskets?

I really don't mind either. I like gift cards because you can get exactly what you want but I like gift baskets because all the shopping work has already been done for you, haha. Honestly now that R is 2 and a total pain in the butt to take anywhere I'm much less excited about getting gift cards. Thank god for internet shopping!

3. Naughty or Nice?

Hey all things considered I think I've been pretty nice. R on the other hand... She's lucky Santa thinks she's so cute. ;)

4. Getting Everything on your wishlist, or Giving Someone Everything on Their Wishlist?

Giving! I mean, am I allowed to answer any other way? ;) Honestly, being a mom on Christmas is even more fun than any of the Christmases I had as a child. There is nothing like watching your little one get excited about something you've given them. I'm really excited to see how R reacts to all her gifts this year- especially since she's this year is the first year that she's really old enough to appreciate them.

5. Presents on Christmas Eve, or Presents Christmas Morning?

We've always done presents on Christmas morning but I've been considering moving it to Christmas Eve since we go to N's mom's in the morning and then my parent's right after that. Plus it's the most fun to open up gifts at my parent's house because they spoil ALL of us!

This weeks questions are about winter:

1. Fashionable snow boots, practical snow boots?

I live in Colorado where it's prone to snow 6 feet at any given time during the winter (and then be beautiful and sunny the next day) so my answer really should be practical snow boots. However those beauties above are the only boots I own and if I told you I haven't eaten shit in them on multiple occasions because of that damn heel then I would be lying. I really should get some practical snow boots (probably not made by Juicy Couture), but I'd rather just stay indoors and wear Uggs. ;)

2.  Hat or ear muffs?

Hats for sure. I just look silly in ear muffs and I like to have the top of my head covered.

3. Snowed in or playing out in the snow?

Snowed in! I hate being out in the snow with a passion. It's cold and wet which are two of my least favorite feelings ever.

4. Sledding or snow tubing?

I have to say sledding by default since I've never gone tubing, but I really do need to go tubing. When N was little his dad would get him tubes from semi truck tires and he'd go tubing on those. It sounds like it was a lot of fun and something he will probably do with R sooner or later.

5. Almost winter or Winter’s almost over?

WINTER'S ALMOST OVER!!! Winter is fun from November to December because of the holidays and then it's just a dreary crapfest. January-March is a really gross time of year here in Colorado and I wouldn't mind the season flipping to Spring as soon as the new year starts. I've got two words about late winter: black snow. Uggh.

This weeks questions are about what makes your house a home:

1. Screened in Porch or Wrap Around Deck?

That's a tough one but I'm going to have to say screened in porch. Even though mosquitoes aren't as terrible in Colorado as they are in other place, they seem to LOVE me and I can't eat outside during the summer without being devoured. It's awful!

2. Big Luxurious Bathtub, or Huge Walk in Closet?

Huge walk in closet no question! That is one of my dreams! I don't take baths so I don't have any need for a big tub. However if you were talking about a really luxurious shower then I might have to reconsider my answer.

3. Kitchen with an Island, or Kitchen with a Breakfast Bar?

Is it bad I had to google breakfast bar? I've never heard it called that here, just a counter, hahaha. Aesthetically I think I'd rather have an island, but a breakfast bar is much more functional. I currently have neither but my parents have always had both so I was a bit spoiled.

4. Big Front Yard, or Big Back Yard

Big back yard of course! My big fat dog needs plenty of room to run around and ruin stuff. ;)

5. Bountiful Garden or Nearby Grocery Store

Both please? Oh man, I guess out of necessity I'd say grocery store because N pretty much all vegetables (especially if they're fresh!) But I would really love to have a big garden. I've lived within minutes of a Safeway or King Soopers my entire life so I'm totally spoiled there. I really can't imagine life without one so close!

Out of all of these our house might only have a close grocery store, but it's our home and I love it (mostly.)

This weeks questions are about Thanksgiving foods:

1. Stuffing or Mashed Potatoes

Stuffing hands down no question. I love potatoes, but not when they're mashed or baked.

Oh yeah baby.
2. Homemade cranberry sauce, or Store bought cranberry sauce
Strangely satisfying.

It's not "real" cranberry sauce if it doesn't come out shaped like the can. I eat at least half a can of that stuff every year. I heard a few years ago it's basically all sugar but whatevs. So good.

3. Pumpkin Pie, or Pecan Pie

Pumpkin! I love a good (store-bought, haha) pumpkin pie. We don't usually do pecan around here and I don't hate it, but it's nothing compared to pumpkin.

4. Cooking all day, or Cleaning up all night

I'm a terrible cook so I'll say cleaning. Although neither is really preferable. ;)

5. Thanksgiving Day Parade, or Football game

I love the parade but almost never wake up in time to watch it, haha. I'm not into football at all. But I'm really looking forward to the:

2013 NHL Thanksgiving Showdown!

This weeks questions are about fears:

1. Heights or deep water?

Hrm, I'm probably going to have to go with heights I'm not super afraid of either, but heights make me really uneasy. Just thinking about them makes my toes literally tingle! Does that happen to anyone else?

N texted me this picture while he was out on a walk with R.
He said, "Well... I guess your daughter saw snake sex today."

2. Snakes or Spiders?

Spiders! I hate, hate, hate snakes and all other reptiles! I don't mind spiders at all. I actually have a Chilean rose tarantula that lives next to my bed. They're the perfect pet. Their food costs just a few dollars a year, they don't make a mess, don't smell, and are fun to watch! I bought my girl from a pet store when she was fairly mature (I have no idea how old she is) so I've never handled her. When (if?) she dies I'm going to get a baby that I can handle.

The Duchess

3. Losing all your teeth, or losing all your hair?

This is a tough one because fun wigs, amirite? But I'm actually going to say teeth because you can get dentures and the best part? NO MORE TEETH CLEANINGS AT THE DENTIST! My hair is actually falling out pretty badly right now. I have an appointment today for thyroid blood work (I have Hashimotos and switched meds a few months ago and am still adjusting) and I am dying for some rainbow hair extensions (for volume) from Intense Extensions! Be still my heart! I'd have gotten them yesterday if they weren't so dang expensive.

4. No voice or No hearing?

I think I'm going to go with no voice. I'm always torn between no hearing/ no seeing, but I think I could stand to live without my voice.
5. Eating a bug, or eating intestines?

Ew ew ew! Are the intestines cooked? Oh who am I kidding that wouldn't make a difference. Well, I think I actually wold say intenstines because you could at least try and pretend it was something else. Weird, semi-related side story: I was at Petsmart last month getting crickets for the Duchess and I asked the guy who was getting me the crickets why they were yellow instead of black. He said it's because they eat a special, non-toxic diet, and he proceeds to GRAB A CRICKET AND POP IT IN HIS MOUTH AND EAT IT! In my mind I fell over dead but I put on a very cool front so as not to give the guy any sort of reaction. But ew, who does that?!

Time for another fun edition of This or That!

This weeks questions are:

1. Will Smith now, or Will Smith Then
Oh my gosh Will Smith then no question! I've never really been a fan of his or seen many of his movies (I was also too young for the Fresh Prince) but now he's a crazy ass Scientology and has even crazier assed kids. Sorry I'm not sorry but Jaden Smith is the worst.

Look at those platforms!

2. Platform Sandals, or Clear Plastic Sandals
While I loved me a good pair of jellies I'm going to have to go with platform sandals. I was OBSESSED with the Spice Girls so the higher the platform the better!

One of my app Tamagotchis grew up to be a beautiful sperm!

3. Tamagotchis or Nano Babies
I was definitely team Nano Babies! But I did have more than a few Tamagotchis! I actually still have a ton lying around somewhere. Did you know there's a Tamagotchi app for smart phones?! It's just like having the old egg. I've killed most of the ones I've tried to raise already. How I keep a real child alive I have no idea.

4. TGIF Line Up or Nick After Dark
I don't seem to recall "Nick After Dark" but I remember being super disappointed every time Nickelodeon switched to "Nick At Nite." I wanted more cartoons! I also never watched the TGIF line up.

5. JTT or Devon Sawa.
I was a little young during the JTT years, and I really have no idea who Devon Sawa is. (Google did not really help.) So I suppose JTT is going to have to win by default. ;)

Trying out a new link-up today!

This week's this or that questions are:

A night without the kids, or a night with well behaved kids?
I love going places with R when she is well behaved so I'd definitely say a night with a well behaved kid. N on the other hand would say a night without the kid for sure. He loves R but whenever he is around she is attatched to him so I can't say I blame him.

Full on tantrum in the grocery store, or tantrum in the movie theater?
Oh I've had many full on tantrums in the grocery store/ Target and a mini one in a theater once (N takes her to the theater by himself now.) I'd say grocery store since you don't have to pay (a billion dollars) to go in and you don't have to be completely quiet. Sitting still and being quiet are R's two biggest challenges by far.

Runny nose, runny bum?
Oh god runny nose no question!

Self done haircut, self done sharpie tattoo?

Oh you mean like these?

Sharpie tattoo for sure. Since I have actual tattoos R is often wanting her own body artwork. I'd prefer to put it on her myself, or that she use something washable, but this has happened more than a few times. I would fall over dead if (when??) she cut her hair. It's never been cut (she was born with a super mullet so her bangs are just now growing out) and I don't plan on cutting it pretty much ever.

Furbaby Questions:

1. Pet boarding or Pet Sitters?
Sitters. Boarding is too expensive and I don't like the idea of my pup having to be in any cage or kennel that isn't his own crate.

2. Dry food or wet food?
Dry food for sure. I actually had my old dog get colitis from wet food. Apparently it actually dries out their intestinal track? Sounds strange but that's what my vet told me. It was super painful for my poor pup and I hated going through it.

3. Cleaning up vomit or cleaning up the squirts?
Uggh! Neither, haha. Well I suppose the squirts because even though I'd do it gagging uncontrollably with my shirt pulled up over my nose I just can't clean up dog vomit- or any vomit in general. My phobia definitely extends to animals throwing up.

4. Grooming your pets yourself or going to a groomer?
I do like the in-between of going to the do-it-yourself pet wash places, but I liked that with my Pomeranian, and he was 12lbs. Since Hank is pushing 90 I'd MUCH rather have a groomer give him a bath and a brush. He's gone to the groomers twice already and is a rockstar. Hopefully he keeps being good there because Berners have long beautiful adult coats that need lots of grooming!
