Thursday Thoughts

- This has been a crazy week for weather here in Colorado and of course, my house has missed out on all of it which has been good and bad. Lots of rain, hail, and even (little) tornadoes across the rest of the state but at my house we've been lucky to just get a sprinkling of rain. I defintiely do not want any hail over here, but a nice rain soaking would be nice. The sprinklers are back on and we're watering twice a day to help with the crazy dead spots we have (thanks Hank!) and free water would be nice, haha!

- I cleaned out my car yesterday and we were going to go vacuum it but it looked like a nasty storm was coming so we didn't. And then the storm bypassed us completely. Today we were going to go vacuum it after lunch when it started thundering and sprinkling- and now it's stopped but it's crazy windy. Why doesn't the universe want me to vacuum my car? It needs it BADLY!

- Speaking of my gross car, I ordered a trunk liner for my car because Hank has made an insane mess back there with his hair and all the dirt he picks up at the dog park. I'm so anxious to get it but they custom make them for every make/ model/ year of vehicle so the shipping estimate isn't until the end of May/ beginning of June and I'm so impatient!

- R has been totally cracking me up this week. I don't know where she comes up with half the stuff she does but it kills me. Just a few minutes ago she brought me a carton of blueberries and goes, "Is this a good idea? I want to eat these." Oh and this happened...

I was in my room putting away laundry and she was in the office/ playroom playing. When I realized her incessant chatter had gone silent I went in to see if she had fallen asleep and sure enough she had- literally in the middle of eating peanut butter with a spoon! And no, I hadn't brought her either that peanut butter or that spoon!

- Just about every dystopian YA series I've read this far has referenced people "tasting bile" (The Divergent series was so bad about this.) What? First of all, do people actually get a bitter taste in their mouth when they're upset? I have GERD and reflux 24/7 it doesn't get worse when I'm upset. Second of all, if this is a thing that happens it's surely stomach acid- which does not contain bile. Bile should not be in your stomach (if it is then you have a very serious problem called biliary reflux) and if you ever taste it for some reason you should probably get checked out by a doctor. I refluxed bile once in middle school and it was a BAD TIME. And then you know my experiences with bile after my surgery, haha. But yeah, just so we're clear stomach acid =/= bile.

Thursday Thoughts

- We had a strange morning today. Last night R kept waking up crying and saying that her legs hurt (growing pains is my guess) so we let her sleep in our bed. She slept very fitfully and when N was about to leave for work she heard him go downstairs and BOLTED out of bed screaming, "BUBBA! BUBBA! I NEED YOU!" He set her up in her own bed with some cartoons and she watched them/ slept while I slept too. Then she woke me up because she had pooped in her overnight pull-up (uggh) and it wasn't pretty. I put her in the shower and she wanted to get out fairly quickly. I wrapped her in a towel and set her on her bed so she could dry off. She fell back asleep and slept until 1:30pm! I'm not sure if she's just growing or fighting the bug I had on Sunday/ Monday but she seems ok right now.

- I used the opportunity of her sleeping to sleep more myself. I have felt awful this week and it's really bumming me out. Two weeks ago I felt pretty good and figured my pacer was helping. Then last week I had my period and the hormone shift always makes my GP a lot worse, so I figured that's why I didn't feel as good. It's over now but this weeks I've felt just as awful. This week I feel exactly like I did before surgery.

- As you have probably realized I haven't started my elimination diet yet but I need to. My motility is still as awful as ever which I knew would happen so I need to be more proactive about it. It's just going to take time to do things like bake bread with no grains or dairy or really anything (uggh) and I just feel too sick to even care right now. I'm hoping N can help me get on the right track.

- In non-health related news R has her recital photoshoot on Sunday! They're going to get professional pictures of them taken in their costumes and they want all the little girls to have "curled pretty hair" and makeup! Hopefully R behaves because this could either be the cutest thing ever or a total disaster.

- This is so accurate:

 - Yesterday was a very bittersweet day for me. We finally sold the red Commander which was my second car ever. My first was the Wagoneer that I got into the horrible accident in, and it was after that accident that my dad took pity on me and bought me the Commander. I'll never forget picking it out on the lot, and driving it home white knuckled because it had snowed and I was still fresh from the accident and totally freaked out.

It drove me to this house for the first time, home from my wedding, and to and from our honeymoon- where we almost blew up the tranny going off road! It was our last ride as a family of two and our first ride as a family of three. It took me to countless days of school and waited for me after every emotional, panic attack filled day on campus. It drove me to graduation, and more than an hour away to pick up our sweet Hank. We went so many wonderful and terrible places in between, and I'm going to miss it so much.

But as nostalgic as I am, when the time came to chose between it and the other Commander that N put the new motor in, I was too in love with the sunroof/ heated seats/ rear a/c, etc. of the other car. Seriously guys, that sunroof is the best thing ever. Last night a guy came to drive her away and I sobbed like a baby. I didn't meet the guy who took it but N told me he has 4 kids and needed the Commander for it's 3rd row. I'm glad it's going to a family, hopefully they will love it as much as I did. I think they will.

Goodbye Freedom Mobile. I will forever hold you in the place in my heart reserved for inanimate objects. Happy trails.

Thursday Thoughts

- Christmas is already over folks! I hope everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, had a fantastic day yesterday! We traveled from our house, to N's mom's, to my parent's, to my grandparents and R was spoiled mightly along the way. I'm so thankful we have such a wonderful extended family, and I loved being able to see so many of them yesterday!

- N and I didn't exchange gifts yesterday since we're going to wait for the after-Christmas sales. I'm eying a Paperwhite Kindle (since R killed mine last week), the Naked 2 Palette (THAT R WILL HOPEFULLY NOT MURDER FOR A THIRD TIME!!!), and some new Uggs. Or maybeee two new pairs of Uggs. Because god knows that's exactly what I need!

- Right now I really want to take down all the Christmas decorations, especially our horrific fire hazard of a dead tree, but I have no motivation. Maybe tomorrow...

- We got my car back from the body shop on Monday and she looks fabulous! They also gave us a can of the extra paint they used which was really nice. Unfortunately she is misfiring like crazy and is pretty much un-driveable. We've been using N's Honda which is 1) tinyyy and 2) grosss so I'm hoping he can get my car fixed ASAP.

- I finally finished The Brothers Karamazov a few days ago and all I have to say is "wtf Dostoyevsky?!?!" I spent like 750 pages getting close to those characters and you ended it like that?! Apparently, "Dostoyevsky intended it to be the first part in an epic story titled The Life of a Great Sinner, but he died less than four months after its publication" so I forgive him I suppose. But I still feel totally ripped off about that epilogue. Now it's time to dive into another classic!

Thursday Thoughts

- I can't believe it's already Thursday. I mean, I can since yesterday was Wednesday but this week is really flying by.

 2009 and 2010 mountain trees

2012 and 2013 tree lot trees.

- For the third year in a row we bought a tree from a tree lot and it's already totally crispy. I don't know if it will make it next week before we take it back to the lot and demand a new tree. Lot trees are SO pretty because they grow them in Oregon or somewhere where nice trees grow, but they are such a pain. Growing up we always went to the mountains to cut down a tree (we don't have any of those fancy tree farms where you can cut down a nice tree) but these past three years having a little one it's just been too much. Plus our mountain trees are janky as hell. I don't care about looks anymore, I want a fresh tree that will last!

- I sent a couple of my old things and my mom's old things to Thred Up last month and got a $38 pay out! I was expecting way less than that! I used it to get a $30 pair of Juicy Couture jeans but while they fit in the waist they were really big in the leg. I took them to get taken in and hemmed today and it's only going to cost $30. Just that for some custom fitting Juicy jeans? I am so there.

- Nate couldn't get Hank to come back inside this morning even though it was -6! I guess he didn't want to stop rolling in the snow! This is the kind of weather Bernese Mountain Dogs were bred for though. He is a holy mess  now though. I don't know where he found mud, but find it he did.

- I didn't make it to the store yesterday and even though I ran errands today I still didn't go, haha. We got Starbucks instead and that's all the groceries we need (for uh, right now haha.)

- ETA:

BEST MAIL DAY EVER!!!!!

Thursday Thoughts

- I had my EKG this morning and my heart looks great! I'm not surprised but I'm glad it's over with so my GI doctor can prescribe me the new motility med. However I thought my appointment was at 10:30 when it was supposed to be at 10, so when I got there at 10:15 the receptionists told me the doctor I was supposed to see hates when people are late. I felt really bad but I've also sat in the waiting room at that office for over half an hour before (well, probably because people like me run late but still.) The guy was kind of a jerk but I didn't even have to see him because a nurse could do the test. Whatevs.

He was trying to give the phone a weird look. He succeeded.

- So the Avs lost last night. I knew the would but it was a bummer to see in person. We don't usually get to see them score four goals and then lose. I'm not too worried about it. I know they won't stay at the top of the NHL for long, they had a hot start and have a long way to go, but I think they'll make the playoffs this year which is more than I could have asked for before the season started!

- I am getting killed in fantasy hockey. I am playing N this week and am beating the pants off him but it's not going to help me much. Uggh.

-  Has anyone gotten a gingerbread frap from Starbucks and tried the molasses drizzle? It's SO gross. Like burnt caramel and it makes the whole drink taste terrible. I ordered a frap today without it and the drive through girl said she didn't blame me because that stuff is nasty. They should get rid of it. However the spiced whipped cream is divine.

- I don't need any of the Target Halloween clearance stuff. I don't need any of the Target Halloween clearance stuff. I don't need any of the Target Halloween clearance stuff.

Thursday Thoughts

- I'm pretty sure I'm still full from dinner last night. My dad is out of town (and my mom's birthday is tomorrow but she's leaving to meet my dad in Chicago) so went to the Melting Pot. It's this fantastic fondue restaurant that is ridiculously expensive and my dad "is against it on principle" so we always go when he's out of town. :)

- I got my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 10.1 (wow that's a mouthful!) in the mail yesterday! And guess how much I paid for it? A whopping $1.13! My mom gets Office Depot rewards for purchases from my dads business and sometimes she gives them to me if the office doesn't need anything before the rewards expire. Well she had a buttload of rewards and I decided to finally bite the bullet and get a Galaxy. So far I'm enjoying actually being able to watch videos on it (yay for Flash!) but there's definitely more of a learning curve than there is on the iPad. I never thought I'd admit to ever liking an Apple product, but that iPad is pretty ok... (At least when I don't want to watch videos.)

- I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon for my thyroid and I'm anxious to see how it goes. I've been increasing my dose of thyroid meds by myself because I've been so desperate to feel better. Hopefully we get something worked out today and I can check this annoying issue off my list.

- Instead of going to bed at a decent hour last night, I stayed up and wrote reviews of all the Scentsy bars I own. I'm not affiliated with Scentsy in any way, except for being obsessed with it, so I did this more for me so I can remember which scents I like. I think I might put it up here for anyone curious. Now I want to order a bunch more bars!

Thursday Thoughts

- R didn't too bad as the flower girl for my cousin's wedding. She screamed when we tried to put her dress on and get pictures of her with the bridal party, she screamed right before it was time for her to walk, and when I tried to reroute her when she took a wrong turn down the aisle she laid down on the ground and screamed some more. But when she caught a glimpse of N standing at the end of the aisle holding out a sucker she dropped her flowers and RAN to him. Everyone laughed and she was precious dancing at the reception so overall it was a success.

Thursday Thoughts

- Well this week has flown by a lot faster than I thought it would! I had some grand plans for posts earlier in the week but I haven't been able to get around to as much as I wanted to.

Being good-natured is not exactly her strong suit...

- We leave for Vail tomorrow for my cousin's wedding. R is going to be the flower girl and the dress came from Etsy two days ago and looks AMAZING. She seriously looks like a little angel. I just hope she can behave like one...

- I bought a pair of heels for the wedding and I'm a little nervous to attempt to wear them. Now I'm really regretting throwing out those Dr. Scholl's heel inserts. Uggh. I bought a great wiggle dress from Modcloth but it's hard for me to feel like anything other than a frumpy mom.

- Has everyone gotten their Julep boxes already except me? Since this is the first time I've ever done a full upgrade I'm super anxious to get mine.

- N's hand is doing SO much better. I'll save you from the pictures (that I've of course put on FB) but the improvement is huge. I am so thankful!

And this was after we won!

- I can't believe I almost forgot this but: HOCKEY IS BACK! N and I went to the Av's home opener last night and it. was. amazing. I haven't seen them score that many goals in years! And Patrick Roy flipping out at the end of the game (because one of the Duck's players dangerously kneed our brand new rookie) was just golden. Whatever this season holds I am excited for hockey to be back!

Thursday Thoughts

- Did you know physical therapy for wounds involves simply cleaning them out? N and I didn't either until today when he had an appointment. I didn't go with him but apparently it was so gruesome that N literally passed out- something he's never done before! Yikes!

This is what's stuck inside my throat!

- The BRAVO capsule still hasn't come out of my throat. It was pretty painful last night and hurts again today. I just want this to be over!

- I'm expecting a package from Zulily (thinking of signing up? here's my referral link!) today with some vintage looking Halloween decorations I'm really excited about. I've pretty much run out of decorating room but I'll find some places for these. I can't wait until everything is all together and I can get some pictures!

- R is going to be the flower girl in my cousin's wedding next Saturday and I am SO NERVOUS. She can be very outgoing and awesome (at my other cousin's reception she was literally coming up behind people and pushing them onto the dance floor so they would dance with her) but she's also the loudest tantrum-er ever and I'm scared she'll freak out when she walks down the aisle.

- In other dance related thoughts, R has been doing SO well at dance class! She was really scared the first week and cried/ wouldn't leave me for the entire class, but the last few times she's participated and been really good. She's hilarious to watch because she's the youngest in the class and has absolutely no idea what's going on. The dance teacher said she'd like to get R's class to participate in their holiday recital and I think that would be awesome! Hopefully R's flower girl experience will prepare her for that. Hopefully...

What's on your mind today?

Thursday Thoughts

Trying my very first link-up today with one of my favorite bloggers, Jen at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom!

- You know when you get really hungry and you put so much food on your plate that looking at it makes you lose your appetite? Yeah, that's sort of what happened to me with crafting. I went crazy on crafting supplies and now I'm feeling very "meh" about finishing everything. That's actually the same way I feel about cleaning my house. ;)

I am really looking forward to an entire season of this!

- N and I went to the first Avalanche preseason game yesterday while his mom watched R. They lost but it was good to get out of the house just the two of us, and can I say how excited I am for hockey season to start? I really hope coach Roy (LOVE HEARING THAT) will whip the boys into shape.

- I tried making cake pops today with the mold and chocolate melter that I got from Zulily a couple weeks ago. All was good until it came time to *dip* the cake in the chocolate. I had used chocolate chips and the chocolate was way too thick for dipping so it had to be crudely spooned on. Then when I tried to heat the chocolate in the microwave I ended up overheating it and ended up with a rock of molten chocolate (and not in a delicious way.) They are ugly as sin but taste good so I suppose it was a success.

- I finished Ellen Hopkins' new book Smoke the other day and I just wasn't that into it. She's my favorite guilty pleasure author (sorry not sorry for loving YA Lit) so I was a little disappointed- especially since the first book in this series (Burned) was so interesting. The twist ending caught me by surprise, but it wasn't as shocking or interesting as a lot of her other books.

- Have you read this article yet? Because if not you need to.
