Subscriptions: Ipsy July 2014 Review

Holy terrible picture Batman I'm sorry! Anyway, I liked the bag this month but didn't love it as much as I thought I would. It's a thin, faux-leather kind of material and I think it'd have worked better in a tougher plastic. I love the color though.

Also, I am dying to try that push-up liner. I am obsessed with cat eye makeup and still haven't found a great way to do it. I like eyeliner pens but they dry up after just a few uses!

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil: So tanning oil is almost the opposite of sunscreen right? From what I understand this has an SPF of 08 so that's condusive to tanning? Either way I'll be packing this for the trip (N's grandma lives on a lake!) and maybe I can get a good color going on my pale gams!

Benefit They're Real Mascara: I just got this last month in my Birchbox, and before that via Sephora, and before that who knows but I have a million of these. I like this mascara but it's not my all time favorite and I'd much rather try other brands. You know what I want to try? Their new eyeliner. A small sample of that would have been amazing and I'd have bought the full size in a heartbeat if I liked it! Let's get with the program Benefit!

Lavilin Jojoba Skin Soother Gel Cream: The bottle says this is to "hydrate skin after intense activity" so I guess that means going to the grocery store with R for me. I put some on my hand and it's like any other lotion out there and has a faint sunscreen smell. I'm not a big fan.

Tints & Sass Fabulous Lip + Cheek Color: I just can't get behind these lip and cheek stains. I've tried so many and none have worked for me. This will be passed along.

Bare Minerals 5 in 1 BB Advanced Performance Cream Eyeshadow: Wow that was a mouthful! I can just imagine the team at Bare Minerals sitting in a conference room deciding on all the inane adjectives they were going to stick into the name of their new product. Either way this is an interesting product and I don't know if I mean that in a good or bad way. It went on nicely and I liked the way it looked, but after I rubbed it in the color spread a lot and resembled a bruise. I think if I'd put this on my eye it'd look like I had a black eye. I just can't get the hang of cream/ pencil shadows no matter how hard I try.

Applied with the wand.

Rubbed in.

Ipsy is only $10 a month and well worth the price! Check out my referral link below:

  1. Ha! It totally does look like a bruise! Maybe keep it around for the next zombie adventure? I really didn't care for much of anything in my bag this month either.. and yours had about 3 more products that looks somewhat interesting.. I think that should give you an idea how much mine sucked lol

    1. Oooh that's a perfect place to use it! You know I've already penciled the next zombie crawl into my calendar, haha. I don't think this was a great month for Ipsy!

  2. I really like your bag this month but I see what you're talking about with the bruised looking eyecream. Too funny!

  3. Does the tanning oil smell good? I gave up tanning 6 months ago and don't want to fall off the wagon after being good for so long. So I was thinking of trying to use it as a daily moisturizer but not if it means going to work smelling like a pina colada.

    1. The scent is actually a lot lighter than I thought it would be and I do like it, but it definitely reminds me a little of pina coladas, hahaha. I think it's light enough that it wouldn't be too noticeable though.
