I'm hosting a Disney Side party!

So that mystery package I was teasing you about yesterday actually came today- I wasn't holding out on you on purpose! ;)

But before I'll show you the pictures I'll tell you what this is all about. A few months ago I got an e-mail from Mom Select asking if I'd like to enter to be chosen to host some sort of party for Disney. I was like, why the hell not I'm sure they won't pick me anyway, so I sent in my info. Well a few weeks ago I got an e-mail saying that I had actually been selected to throw a party, and that Disney was going to send me a kit with which to do it.

Now you know my stance on free stuff, I LOVE it, but I'll be totally honest right now- I'm not the biggest Disney fan. I absolutely despise the "Disney Princess" machine, and there's plenty of other stuff I find problematic. I'm not anti-Disney by a long shot, and despite some of my reservations, some of R's favorite movies are Toy Story and Cars. I've also let her watch vintage Mickey Mouse cartoons on YouTube (spurring a love affair) and those contain plenty of family friendly racism, sexism, violence, etc.

But I agreed to throw this party, and throw it I shall- although it will be much more of a glorified play date, because this mama needs to save her resources for R's third (!!!) birthday party in May. Anyway, here's is what they sent me:

Everything came in this really nice suitcase. Even though the color is not one of my favorites (it was free who cares) it's of good quality, and wheels around easily. We don't have much luggage so this was a very welcome addition.

In these envelopes was a big print of that sticker shown there. I of course forgot to take a picture of one, but looking at the sticker you can see what it was. The print is super cute but definitely not something I would put anywhere in my house. I'll be giving these to anyone that wants one.

I have absolustely no idea what these are, and the info packet didn't give me any clues. Maybe you write on them and take them to sports games or races? I have no idea.

Can you tell R was excited? She loves it when things come in the mail, it's so cute!

All the goods!

Well, R has already dug into the craisins and eaten two boxes. I love craisins too so we'll be eating all of these, haha. The ESPN Disney stickers are bumper stickers? There's the white silhouette of a castle between those arrows but this isn't going anywhere near my car, haha. The rubber bracelets say ESPN Wide World of Sports - Play at the Next Level, so uh, yeah.

Damn this is a LOT of photo paper! It looks like they have picture paper as well as card kits inside these. But here's the thing- unless there was a $500 gift card to Office Max in the box to pay for ink, there is no way I can use these. The info sheet says to print out cards at the party as an activity and to give people packs to take home, but there won't be any printing going on. I'll use these for invitations for this party and for R's birthday, but I'm not rich enough to print pictures at home.

Here's the classic party stuff. A tablecloth, plates, napkins, cups, and decorations.

They also sent out measuring cups (?) and cupcake holders. No cupcake mix but I'll spring for a box. ;)

There was also Disney bingo and trivia for games, an iPhone 5 phone cover (I have a Moto Razr Maxx) and cookie cutters. I think I'm going to try and use these for sandwiches and for cookies for the get together. The star especially is really cute.

This was what was inside the hostess kit. A rather unhelpful info packet, a luggage tag, a vacation planning DVD (yeah I wish), a recipe card, a "Muppets Most Wanted" calendar post card, and face painting guides, but no facepaint.

Oh and there were also tattoos (mostly of a pissed off Donald Duck) and stickers!

I don't quite know what I'm going to do for the party. Likely sandwiches, cupcakes, cookies, chips, and the usual fare. There's a Facebook group for all the people who were chosen to throw these parties and some people are definitely going big. The best part though is that there's literally drama in that group, with people throwing hissy fits about others posting "spoiler" pictures, people accusing each other of not showing the "magic" of Disney, etc. I love the Internet. More posts on this to come!

Although I received these products for free I was not monetarily compensated for this opportunity.

    1. I cannot keep clothes on that girl. If she is home she is nude. But then again I am too for the most part, haha.
