Nailed It: Valentines Day Garland

Welcome to another edition of Nailed It! where I attempt Pinterest crafts with probably varying results. Up today is a Valentine's Day picture garland.

Well, this project didn't actually come from Pintrest, but I'm just going to put all my crafts under the Nailed It! category. I wouldn't be surprised if there is something similar on Pintrest, but I just didn't go off of any specific craft I've found before.

This was the craft haul that I got from Target. For this craft I used the small clothespins and string. I had big plans for everything else that fizzled, but don't be surprised if you see them make an appearance next year.

Although I have a photo printer at home, doing that uses up about $100 worth of ink per picture, so I decided to do the smart thing and order prints at Walgreens since there's one right near the house. I ordered 10 prints, and the total was just a few dollars. SO worth it.

To make sure I was going to cut a heart that would fit my pictures I traced a picture and then cut out the 4 x 6 rectangle.

I folded the piece of paper in half, drew half a heart, and cut that out. Voila cheater heart! I learned a lot in kindergarten can't you tell?

Then I took the heart and traced over each picture (making sure to get the part of the picture I wanted underneath the heart stencil) using silver sharper so I could see my lines. After that I cut them out.

Using the silver sharpie left me with this, so I had to come up with something to cover it.

A "lace" edge it was! (Don't you just love how well R is posing for this photo?) I covered the silver sharpie with more silver sharpie!

Then I took my string and taped it to both sides of the mirror in our entryway. After that I used the little clothespins to hang up the hearts (I couldn't get all of them to fit on it but that's ok) and it was as easy as that! My only other tip is to make sure you tape the string well because mine has fallen down twice already with me being stingy with the tape!

I hope you have a happy Valentine's Day!

  2. I love this so much! I've seen a lot of cute V-day crafts out there, but I think this one is extra cute because of the pics! So sweet.
