Our Life: Pumpkin Patch 2013

There's a little farm just a few minutes from our house that's owned by Chatfield State Park and the Denver Botanic Gardens. It's actually the place where N and I got married, as well as the site where I ran my second 5k! The past few years they've had a really fun Pumpkin Festival to kick off the harvest of their pumpkin fields. There's fair food, food trucks, booths of all types, and free carnival rides for the kids. R was SO excited to go this year. In fact, all morning and as we were walking in she'd shout "I'M SO EXCITED!" The weather was absolutely beautiful to boot.

Unfortunately, after dealing with slight nausea all morning I started to feel REALLY sick after we picked our pumpkins and sat down for a snack. I was gagging and getting the rumblings that meant I needed to leave RIGHT AWAY. R hadn't ridden any rides yet and as we were leaving she ran over to one and again shouted, "I'M SO EXCITED!" I couldn't ruin her day so I took the car home- absolutely dripping in panic sweat- (and made it home just in time) and my amazing sister-in-law picked up N and R when they were ready to go. I felt horrible not just physically, but emotionally as well for almost spoiling the day.

I'm really struggling with these reflux/ digestive issues and it's getting harder and harder to deal with. Luckily, I received a letter in the mail yesterday saying that my insurance will approve the last test that the throat surgeon needs so things just keep plugging along! I hope tomorrow will be a better day.

  1. Not to make light of your situation, but when Ben and I were first married I took him to a nature trail but before we got very far down it, I had make us leave because I got rapid-onset need to poop myself! It was so embarrassing. Luckily we made it to a convenience store which was so unpleasant. A beautiful fall day destroyed by my bowels.

    1. Hahaha oh no! That's pretty much exactly what happened to me. Luckily our house is about 5 minutes away or else I would have had to face up to one of my biggest fears- horrible public restrooms!
